Toyota Tacoma

The Toyota Tacoma, one of the most reliable trucks from one of the most reliable companies.

These trucks are known for their affordability, off-road capability, and surprisingly their mileage of 20 MPG city and 24 MPG highway. A fascinating thing that I found about Toyota's line up, is their yearly themes. Every year, the Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner, and Sequoia have a themed color, my favorite so far being between the baby blue like the Tacoma above or the olive/army green below.

The Tacoma is available in a AWD, RWD or FWD with either the 2.7L V4 making around 159 HP and the 3.5L V6 making around 278 HP.

The Tacoma is known for its good driver assistance technology, but unfortunately its is also known for its cheap-feeling plasticky interior as well as its tiny back seats and an uncoordinated automatic shifting.

The trucks are available in the following models:
  • SR - priced at $27,425
  • SR5 - priced at $29,215
  • TRD Sport - priced at $34,335
  • Trail Special Edition (a limited 7,000 copy special for 2021) - priced at $35,180
  • TRD Off Road - priced at $35,590
  • Limited - priced at $40,180
  • Nightshade - priced at $41,080
  • TRD Pro - priced at $45,350

Pros and cons aside, the Tacoma is one of my all time favorites, because it's really just an affordable car, with a truck's body and capability.

Like many trucks and SUVs around this price range, the Tacoma also has a wide scope of modifiability.
